ed thompson - president, preserve johns creek

Ed Thompson is a 20 year resident of Johns Creek, along with his wife and two daughters.  He was born and raised in New York (Queens, NYC, then Binghamton, NY).  He earned his undergraduate degree in business from Florida International University in Miami, Florida on a combination of academic and basketball scholarships.  Ed and his wife eventually moved to Winston-Salem, NC where both of their daughters were born.  During this time, Ed completed his MBA at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  As part of his career as a consultant, Ed and his family relocated to Switzerland, spending time in both Zurich and Geneva before finally returning to the US and settling in Johns Creek in 1997.

Professionally, Ed’s career has provided a broad spectrum of experience across industries.  After graduation from FIU, his first job was in the IT function for a major airline.  From there, he worked in the Personal Products divisions for the Hanes companies where he was part of a small team that started up the Hanes Her Way Footwear business.  That experience ultimately led Ed to a career in consulting, first with a Big Six firm, time with a Retail and Apparel consulting organization, and then into Supply Chain Planning software and implementation.  Ed founded and built a successful independent firm focused on strategic Supply Chain consulting services, assisting clients with establishing long-term roadmaps with an emphasis on establishing sustainable competitive advantage in their operations.  Ed joined an Atlanta-based Supply Chain Planning software company where he is the Executive Vice President responsible for all customer operations.

The Thompson family has truly enjoyed the life they have been able to establish as residents of Johns Creek, and they are dedicated to efforts to maintain and preserve those aspects that make our city special.
